Outcome SHC Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Student Learning Outcome: Audience: Student Health Center will assess the learning of Students who request a Self-Ordered STI test from the Student Health Center online request process. They will increase their knowledge about the potential causes and consequences of STI's and unprotected sex. Behavior: Students will learn: • Common types of STI • Truth about certain myths concerning STI transmission • The health consequences of having an STI • Options for obtaining an STI test Condition: • UCI's Student Health Center offers a Self-ordered STI test to students who have questions and feel they may have an STI. • There is an educational component delivered as part of the process, so that not only do students receive their STI test results, but also learn of risks and consequences of high-risk sexual health behaviors. • 100% of students requesting Self-ordered STI testing will be asked to complete an STI Pre-test. o All students who request a Self-ordered test at the SHC Lab must complete a set of questions prior to having their samples collected and testing performed, and these will include the pre-test questions for the STI SLO. • 100% of students who receive their STI results will be asked to complete an STI Post-test o Upon receiving their STI test results, students will be sent a post-test survey to assess knowledge obtained through the educational component. • Point and Click (PnC), the secure electronic health record utilized by SHC, is the repository for students' health information and communication with students. PnC also serves as the tool for determining student data for Pre- and Post-tests. Demonstration: Student learning will be shown by: Scores for students will increase from Pre-test to Post-test after receiving the educational component on the following topics: • Common types of STI • Truth around certain Myths about STI transmission • The health consequences of having an STI • Options for obtaining an STI test
Benchmark • An increase of 85% will be seen in correct answers obtained from students on the Pre-test when compared to the Post-test.
