Outcome As a result of participating in SPOP, students will: (1) Be more comfortable asking for help when they need it. (2) Be more committed to making responsible choices regarding alcohol use. (3) Be more respectful of other people’s choices not to drink alcohol. (4) Be able to identify relevant campus resources for a variety of needs including, but not limited to, mental and physical health and wellness, academic support, student leadership, and sexual violence response and prevention. (5) Take greater responsibilities to improve campus climates that end sexual assaults by improving their abilities to correctly define the terms associated with consent for sexual activity between partners. (6) Correctly identify examples of academic dishonesty.
Benchmark - 90% of those who participate in SPOP will feel empowered to ask for help at UCI when they need it. - 90% of those who participate in SPOP will believe they can make responsible choices around alcohol use and contribute to a safe social environment. - 90% of those who participate in SPOP will respect the reasons people may use to support their choice to not drink alcohol. - 80% of those who participate in SPOP will know where to go if they are ever in need of the following resources: Academic Support Accommodations for Disabilities Campus Safety: Pre-SPOP Community Service Cultural Programs: Pre-SPOP Financial Education/Management Getting Involved with Campus Life Leadership skill development Physical health & wellness Mental Health & Wellness Sexual Assault response & support Sexual assault prevention Social Support: Pre-SPOP - 90% of those who participate in SPOP will correctly identify four essential components of consent for sexual activity between partners: requires conscious affirmation voluntary and cannot be coerced is revocable and may be withdrawn cannot be given when a person is incapacitated - 90% of those who participate in SPOP will correctly identify potential incidents of academic dishonesty: Writing a portion of a roommates paper for clarity Taking an iClicker quiz for another student Making up a car accident as an excuse for missing a test Copy and pasting text from a Google search into a paper
