Umoja Peer Mentorship Program
|
The Umoja Pilot Program will establish a quarterly program focused on campus belonging and engagement in collaboration with SSI, the CBCRR, BSU and the Umoja club. The quarterly program will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to their integration on campus through a culturally affirming space so they can flourish socially at UCI. Students will also be equipped with resources and additional campus support that they can utilize to overcome any obstacles they may face throughout their time at UCI. A post-assessment survey will be shared at the end of the quarterly collaboration to find the students confidence in community engagement would have increased by 10-15% from their pre-survey.

Cup of SOAR

A legacy program that originated from the food pantry previously housed in SOAR that helps to address food insecurity and provides students with snacks/breakfast on their way to class. Our Unit Outcome, this coming year is to increase by 10% the number of first-year students that participate in the program as an entry program to learn more about the services of the SOAR Center.
Cup of SOAR participants will be surveyed quarterly for programmatic feedback and to better understand current and developing needs to support student retention.

SOARing for Education Affiliation Program

The "SOARing for Education" Affiliation program is designed to promote community building amongst different campus registered student organizations and the SOAR Center to work together and uplift the mission and vision of the center.
The SOARing for Education Affiliation program will develop authentic student leaders touching upon the second domain of leadership development where students will be equipped with the tools, skills, and knowledge to execute innovative, student-initiated outreach and retention programs through mentorship and student-led training. SOARing for Education Affiliates will gain problem-solving skills; decision-making skills; project management skills and the ability to incorporate risk management in their program planning for their outreach/retention programs.
Students will be asked to present their project at the end of the academic year which will be rated without a rubric as well as complete a post-survey to assess their self-reported skill development after participating in the program.
